This morning FARO announced the latest scanner to hit the competitive entry-level market, the Focus M70.
FARO says the scanner, which is set to cost less than $25,000, will provide an “ideal entry point for all professional users considering laser scanning in the construction BIM/CIM and public safety forensics markets.”
The Focus M 70 weighs 4.2 kg, and captures 500,000 points per second at an accuracy of +/- 3mm. It scans at a range of 70 meters (per the title), meaning it’s well suited for smaller jobs. FARO lists a few ideal applications, including “small construction sites, small-scale facades, complex structures, production and supply facilities and manageable accident and crime scenes.”
The M 70 includes an IP rating of 54 for protection against dust and water as well as built-in HDR imaging, and control by remote, tablet, or touch screen. With a small concession to accuracy, the system’s specs are mostly in line with the Focus family, which offers scanners designed for a growing number of application requirements.
FARO says the scanner is available for immediate shipment.
