Every day at Geo Week News, we publish the most important press releases from the industry to keep those within the industry up-to-date with all of the news they need to know. Of course, we know it can be difficult to keep up with everything coming in, so we’re going to look back at the week that was in the news every Friday to recap the biggest happenings of the last five days. Today, we have news about Geo Week 2025, new product releases, and more.
Geo Week 2025 Marks Record Attendance
This week, we start with our own press release detailing the success that was Geo Week 2025. This event has been trending up in terms of buzz, attendance, and exhibitors every year, this February’s edition was no exception. Over the course of the three-day event, 3,222 industry professionals came together in Denver, Colorado, the highest number the event has seen, and they represented 49 countries around the globe. Along with the record attendance, the event also featured a sold-out exhibit hall floor that included 215 companies and organizations exhibiting, another record for the event.
At Geo Week News, our team was of course in attendance and covered many of the sessions and conversations happening at the Colorado Convention Center throughout the week, including both keynotes. Throughout the event, the buzz throughout the exhibit hall floor and the quality of content on all tracks of the conference program – including sessions from partners like ASPRS and Reality Capture Network – was undeniable. As group event director Lee Corkhill said in the release, this continued growth “is a testament to the continued evolution and expansion of geospatial technologies around the world.”
New Drone-in-a-Box Solution
On Thursday, DJI announced the launch of DJI Dock 3, which the company says is their first drone-in-a-box solution that supports vehicle mounting. In their release of the news, they call out public safety, emergency response, and infrastructure response as sectors that will benefit from this release, which they say empowers 24/7 remote operations in extreme environments. To that latter point, they report that the product – which comes with a DJI Matrice 4D or DJI Matrice 4TD – operates and charges in temperatures as warm as 50°C (~122°F) and as low as -30°C (~ -22°F)
Esri Announces new Content Store
This was a big week for Esri, which held its annual Federal GIS Conference in Washington, D.C. While Geo Week News was not able to attend the event this year, one can imagine it was a particularly interesting event this year given the changes happening to the federal government in the United States over the last few weeks.
In addition to that event, the company also made a big announcement for ArcGIS users, launching Content Store for ArcGIS. They describe the new offering as “a new web app that simplifies the process of purchasing and integrating commercial satellite imagery.” The app was developed in partnership with SkyWatch, and gives organizations the opportunity to buy high-quality imagery from Maxar among other imagery providers. This is a big change from previous workflows, that required manual importing of data by the user.
