FARO is continuing its push deeper and deeper into the AEC space with the announcement of the As-Built software platform, which consolidates and replaces the PointSense product line. The As-Built platform is designed to ease the process of bringing point clouds into CAD and BIM software and generating final deliverables for as-built documentation.
The platform offers industry-specific functionality within products for the modeling of point clouds inside AutoCAD and Revit. As such, the platform consists of two software options—one each for AutoCAD and Revit—and an all-in-one bundle solution called As-Built Suite.
As-Built for AutoCAD improves on previous generations of FARO modeling solutions by providing a generic user interface for “all FARO features and functionality across the entire AutoCAD platform.” This makes it easier for users to perform a new task, or switch between workflows.
The software also offers industry-specific tools for AEC, survey, oil & gas, and facilities management that include functionality for total stations and UAVs. The upshot, according to FARO: “there is no longer a need to purchase or support total station software.”
The As-Built for Revit offers all the functionality of PointSense for Revit.
