AGERpoint is generally known for its work in precision agriculture, but the company was at SPAR 3D this year to show off its new Geiger-mode sensor.
The GML100 differentiates itself from other Geiger-mode offerings on the market in a few important ways. First, it weighs under ten pounds, which means it can be mounted on the back of a robot, a mobile mapping platform, or even some UAVs–rather than on an airplane. It has also been priced at “more than 50%” below other sensors on the market, so customers can afford to purchase the sensor themselves. Lastly, the GML 100 incorporates an an avalanche photodiode capable of accepting multiple returns per flash detector.
Since users can export data from the sensor in LAS and LAZ formats, they are not restricted to AGERpoint’s software and can easily use it for applications in infrastructure—such as rail, highway, and utility construction.
