This intriguing project comes to us from Alex G, better know as Fuzzy Wobble. For a number of years, he has been exploring the intersection of 3D scanning tech and… funky dancing.
The first incarnation of this project brought us dddance.party, an interactive visual featuring the music of the Tom Tom Club and a bunch of weird looking 3D models. Use the keyboard, control the dancers–it’s a lot of fun.
The next step, of course, was to add 3D scans of real people into the mix, which he accomplished with the help of a tablet photogrammetry system. And, finally, he built a rig for better scanning and added AR integration. You can even rent this rig for your next party, and maybe you’ll be able to join the 3D dance party at SPAR this year…
