Leicestershire, 07 July, 2015 – Aerial mapping specialist Bluesky has completed a significant recruitment programme, expanding its Leicestershire based workforce by more than 20 per cent. Key appointments include David Findlay who joins as Business Development Manager with responsibility for the Insurance and Financial sectors, and Trevor Barnes who joins the team as Production Manager. Barnes is heading up a rapidly expanding team with responsibility for the production and creation of UK wide geographic data solutions, including aerial photography, height models and the newly completed National Tree Map.
Boosting Bluesky’s Research and Development department is Christopher Aschuaer, who takes on the role of GIS Specialist. Agnes Kowalczyk and Ignacio Magallon take up positions as GIS Analysts in the production department, along with Ryan Krisch who joins as Image Analyst and Tom Newis who takes on the role of Software Developer.
“The last two years have seen significant expansion in the business and it is important that this growth is sustained with the appointment of key personnel at every level,” commented Rachel Tidmarsh, Managing Director of Bluesky International. “These appointments will allow us to continue in the development, creation and launch of high quality, innovative geospatial data solutions. This includes the expansion of the National Tree Map to include Scotland, our commitment to capture aerial photography of the Republic of Ireland, and our research into solutions for air quality mapping and green energy production.”
David Findlay joins Bluesky from Ordnance Survey, where he held the position of Account Manager Financial Services. Managing a portfolio of major and mid-market insurers, Findlay was responsible for growth in sales of geographic information to the insurance sector and represented OS on industry panels.
Trevor Barnes, newly appointed Production Manager, is an experienced project manager who has worked in the aerial survey industry for more than fifteen years. Barnes joins Bluesky from Fugro-BKS, where he held the position of Technical Manager and was responsible for the specification, creation and delivery of complex geographic datasets.
Christopher Aschauer brings an international portfolio of experience to the position of GIS Specialist. An experienced geographic engineer, he has previously worked as a Seismic Survey Supervisor for Fugro Middle East as well as Military Geographic Technician supporting operations in the Mediterranean, Afghanistan and on HMS Illustrious.
Agnes Kowalczyk and Ignacio Magallon join Bluesky in the position of GIS Analysts, and Ryan Krisch as Image Analyst. They are all working on the creation of nationwide image datasets and derived geographic data solutions. Kowalczyk recently graduated from the University of Leicester where she gained an MSc in Geographical Information Systems, while Krisch, a graduate from the University of Plymouth, joins from Cyient / Rural Payment Agency. Magallon, a graduate of the University of Valencia in Spain, has worked on a number of relevant projects including the optimal siting of wind farms and the use of LiDAR to understand risk of fire for utility infrastructure projects.
