With the announcement of the MX9, the long-awaited successor to Trimble’s MX7 mobile mapping system, the company makes the case that less is more.
This is not to say that the system is less powerful than its predecessor. The MX9 vehicle-mounted system is anything but. It offers two lidar sensors with an effective measurement rate of up to 2 MHz, range of up to 420 m, and accuracy of 5 mm with a 360° field of view. The system also includes a multi-camera setup for 360° imagery, and high quality GNSS/INS.
The MX9, however, fits all that functionality into a surprisingly small form factor. Much smaller than the MX7, and almost small enough for a single person to operate. In person, it’s even smaller than it looks on screen.
