Yesterday, Trimble announced the acquisition of the Network Mapping Group Limited (NM Group) for an undisclosed sum.
NM Group offers services across the 3D technology spectrum in the utilities space, including 3D data capture services and analysis software that produces asset models, engineering assessments, and vegetation risk analysis. The company is perhaps best known for Caydence, an enterprise portal for 3D utilities information that includes survey and mapping data as well as reporting and tracking tools, and advanced analytics.
Trimble says the acquisition of NM Group expands its energy solutions portfolio with “high-value data modeling and 3D visualization services for the utilities industry.”
As Kai Lehtinen, general manager of Trimble’s Energy Division explained in an official statement, ”utilities are continuously striving to obtain reliable and up-to-date data, which they can base business decisions on while operating, maintaining and further developing their network infrastructure. Visual and 3D asset management is a growing market segment within the electric utility industry that allows customers to better understand and assess the state of their network assets.”
