Tekla PowerFab 2025 Version Transforms Collaborative Workflows for Steel Detailers and Fabricators

Enhanced Workflow Integration, Production Scheduling and ABM Workflows Streamline Operations
Tekla Structures Connector: Seamless collaboration between the detailer and the fabricator: The new integration between Tekla Structures 2025 and Tekla PowerFab 2025 empowers you to easily share your profile catalog with detailers and validate their submittals instantly, resulting in error-free Bills of Materials and live exchange between Tekla Structures and Tekla PowerFab. | Image via Trimble

Westminster, Colorado | March 12, 2025 - Trimble today announced the 2025 version of its Tekla® PowerFab® steel fabrication management system. Offering improved workflow integration, renewed production scheduling and advance bill of materials (ABM) workflow enhancements, Tekla PowerFab helps streamline operations and provide a more connected and collaborative system for steel detailing and fabrication.

Integration improvements between Tekla PowerFab 2025 and Tekla Structures 2025, Trimble's structural building information management (BIM) software, eliminate the need for manual data transfer of file exports and imports. This greatly reduces the probability of errors and enhances the shared visibility of projects. In the new version, the Tekla Structures Connector allows fabricators to share their profile catalog with detailers, ensuring that only compatible materials and finishes are used in detailing. Real-time validation through automated submittals during all stages of a project reduces the probability of errors and enhances collaboration even further, leveraging Tekla's position as a leader in steel detailing and fabrication management.

Interactive Production Planning

The new web-based interactive scheduling tool in Tekla PowerFab 2025 offers a week-based capacity planning tool by hours or weight, accommodating various planning levels. The Production Planner supports planning across multiple workshops and facilities with interfaces for both basic and detailed planning. It allows for future job scheduling, which is an essential feature for sales and project management teams, and adjusts capacity based on shifts and subcontractor utilization.

ABM Improvements

In the latest version of Tekla PowerFab, ABM improvements cater to the increased frequency of changes facing steel fabricators at the ABM stage. In conjunction with the Tekla Structures Connector, Tekla PowerFab 2025 provides better control and visibility over ABM numbering and change management, streamlining the process and reducing the complexity for detailers and fabricators.

"Trimble builds a connected ecosystem of applications and resources that support open collaboration and communication across design workflows and beyond," says Ryan Vander Plaats, portfolio manager, fabrication at Trimble. "With the new version of Tekla PowerFab, Trimble is actively streamlining detailer-to-fabricator collaboration and communication, reducing complexity even further and boosting customers' ability to deliver with confidence."

Simplified Work Package Management

The 2025 improvements to Tekla PowerFab build on the success of the 2024i release, which introduced improved control of production with work package management. This added the ability to create and manage work packages that comprise all relevant information, making issuing work to fabrication a seamless process. As an important step towards workflow integration, Tekla PowerFab offers priority-based digital work package management and the ability to use work packages in the mobile interface, Tekla PowerFab Go, to remotely navigate to the next work package from the PowerFab Go interface.

Better Insight for More Efficient Purchasing

Turning data into insights, Tekla PowerFab provides a variety of productivity dashboards. The latest addition offers an up-to-date visualization of the purchasing data within Tekla PowerFab. This provides insight into historical trends and current purchasing statuses, benefiting procurement, project management and the financial department.
