If Matterport was not much of a force in the commercial 3D capture space a few years ago, the company certainly made a big showing in 2017. Now, the company has announced a partnership with Hexagon’s Multivista construction documentation platform. It will see Multivista releasing a custom-made feature set on top of Matterport’s application framework to “provide seamless interaction” between Multivista’s functionality and Matterport’s 3D spaces.
Multivista was acquired by Hexagon in late 2016, and provides cloud-based construction documentation software, as well as construction photography and video services using a variety of technology including 3D scanners, drones, as well as cameras and webcams. In the software solution, all data captured is indexed and linked to architectural plans. It also offers the ability to livestream “live conditions or events, such as walkthroughs and inspections,” or record them for later viewing on demand.
The partnership will see Multivista using Matterport’s 3D spaces to power their Site-Walk 360° service, which provides walkthroughs tied to interactive floorplans.
