Brussels, Belgium | September 30, 2024 - At INTERGEO 2024, held in Stuttgart from September 23-25, EAASI took its industry engagement to new heights, introducing its first Students Tour and hosting a record-breaking Networking Event.
This year’s edition of INTERGEO reaffirmed its status as a premier geospatial event, drawing over 17,000 visitors and featuring 579 exhibitors from 121 countries, all focused on showcasing cutting-edge geodata-based solutions to address global challenges like climate change, urbanization, and sustainable land use.
A New Initiative: Guided Tour for Students
A major innovation for EAASI was the introduction of its first Students Tour. Led by Prof. Dr. Dieter Fritsch and EAASI Secretary-General Marcos Martínez-Fernández, the tour offered university students a firsthand look into the crewed aerial mapping industry. The tour included visits to leading EAASI companies at INTERGEO, where students engaged directly with industry professionals, learned about the latest geospatial technologies and gained insights into potential career paths. This initiative aligns with EAASI’s broader strategy to attract young talent and foster the next generation of professionals in aerial surveying.
Unprecedented Networking Event Success
EAASI hosted its annual Networking Event at the Geofly booth, which saw record attendance this year, with over 120 participants. This event has become a key tradition for EAASI members and the wider aerial mapping industry, serving as a meeting point for manufacturers, service providers, and data processors.
It highlighted the industry's vital role in geospatial solutions, from environmental monitoring to urban planning. The networking session allowed participants to share knowledge, discuss industry trends, and explore new business opportunities in a relaxed atmosphere. The event underscored EAASI's pivotal role in promoting collaboration across the sector.
The event also saw participation from a wide range of aerial mapping stakeholders, including national mapping agencies, professional associations, and media outlets. The Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE) Board attended the event, emphasizing their shared goals.
EAASI thanked all the media outlets, including GIM International, Geospatial World, Lidar Magazine, Geo Week News, and Geo Media, for their continued dedication to raising awareness and promoting the advancements in crewed aerial surveying.
“We are thrilled to see the growing interest in EAASI, as demonstrated by the strong attendance at our networking event during INTERGEO 2024,” said Marcos Martínez-Fernández, Secretary General of EAASI. “This level of engagement shows that the industry is eager to build partnerships, which is exactly what the crewed aerial surveying sector needs. By standing together and fostering collaboration, we can shape a sustainable future for the geospatial industry. Our community’s strength lies in cooperation, and that’s how we will continue to innovate and thrive.”
Florian Romanowski, President of EAASI and OPEGIEKA, also said: "I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who attended our networking event at INTERGEO 2024, and to those contributing to EAASI’s ongoing initiatives, including the working groups. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the altruistic efforts of our members who dedicate their time and expertise to tackling common challenges. Your participation is invaluable in shaping the future of our industry. This year’s summit in Athens will mark our sixth consecutive gathering, and I look forward to continuing this journey of collaboration and innovation with you all".
Wrapping up INTERGEO, the EAASI Board held a crucial meeting at the Opegieka booth, engaging in fruitful discussions and charting the course for the upcoming EAASI Partners Summit 2024.
Next Stop: EAASI Partners Summit 2024
Looking ahead, EAASI is preparing for its Partners Summit, which will be held in Athens from November 19-22, 2024. This summit will bring together industry leaders for in-depth discussions, panels, and workshops to address the latest innovations and challenges facing the aerial surveying sector. As the sixth consecutive gathering since EAASI’s founding, the summit promises to solidify further the association’s position as a unifying force in the industry.
