ILMF '18: Cepton's SORA 200 is a small, affordable lidar for UAV (thanks to autonomous vehicles)

While it’s true that a lidar sensor made specifically for autonomous vehicles can’t necessarily be used for UAV mapping, there is still significant overlap between the two markets.

Disruptive lidar manufacturer Cepton illustrates this point nicely, since its experience in autonomous vehicles has led directly to the creation of the SORA 200, a small, inexpensive lidar sensor for UAVs. At ILMF 2018, we caught up with Wei Wei, Cepton’s director of business development, to talk about the new UAV sensor, how autonomous vehicle technology translates to UAV survey, and how a lidar sensor is more like a CD player than you think.
