NBC Sports Uses Cesium for Broadcast Coverage of Summer Games in Paris

Cesium is the big name in the 3D industry alluded to above, and their 3D Tiles format is a standard from the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). This article highlights how 3D Tiles are being used to showcase the city of Paris as the Olympics continue in France. NBC Sports, who broadcasts the Games in the United States, is using Google’s Photorealistic 3D Tiles and Cesium for Unreal with their 3D models of stadiums around the city to showcase to viewers how the city has transformed for this event.

Cloud computing continues to boost photogrammetry services

While photogrammetry is not a new technique, it is a space that has been iterated on constantly over the years and is consistently shifting the way 3D models are created. This article focuses on the work of one particular company in this space, SimActive, and how they have continued to innovate over the last 20 years. Specifically, this article focuses on a recent update which upgraded cloud capabilities for its software. As a result, processing times have been significantly cut and combining data from multiple sensors has become a simpler process.
