With commercial 3D technology in 2018, convergence is the name of the game. In the past, you might have had to purchase separate applications for each cutting-edge processing technology you wanted to use—processing, object recognition, sharing—now there are platforms that will enable you to do virtually everything you need for your workflow.
Orbit GT’s 3D Mapping product portfolio demonstrates this move. The latest generation of these applications have made a number of incremental updates in the pursuit of giving users a one-stop shop for their 3D mapping data needs.
I caught up with CEO Peter Bonne at SPAR 3D to discuss the new visualization features, a vector-based search borrowed from GIS workflows, better object recognition, and a consolidation of its various desktop applications into one.
